NYC --Feb 12, 2010 - Barebrush Artists were well-represented in the opening of Rogue Space Chelsea Valentine's Weekend Nude Show.
Big winners of a show at Rogue, were Joe Mays, Barebrush Featured Artist from Kentucky and his collaborator, Jill Morgan. Pictured at the opening on Friday night are Morgan (right) and Barebrush founder and CEO, Ilene Skeen.
The Mays and Morgan team showed three photographic images which manipulate light and color over the nude form: Open Range, Night Post, and Alternate Ending. For Mays' Featured Artist page, click the link: Joe Mays at Barebrush
Two other Barebrush Featured Artists were represented, Dan McCormack of upstate New York and Featured Artist Michael Apice of Oceanside, NY. Apice showed his large acrylic,
Astrea, which is on Barebrush and McCormack showed a pinhole camera image,
Jena, which is not on Barebrush
(yet!). Here is a link to
McCormack's Featured Artist page at Barebrush.
Other Barebrush artists represented in the Rogue Space Chelsea Valentine's Weekend Show were:
Janet A. Cook (NY) showing two oils,
Malorie Shannon (FL), showing the large original of
Morning and
Emily Rich (NY), showing an oil. In addition, one of our barebrush curators, DS Wade of First Street Gallery, showed an intaglio print.
Says Skeen,
It was great to attend the opening and see the works of these fine artists in person. It was also great to meet so many fine artists and art lovers interested in this challenging and often maligned genre.
The experience of the online gallery at Barebrush.com is complemented well with seeing these beautiful, and sometimes astounding works in person. I'm very excited about increasing our exposure and physical presence in the art marketplace. Many thanks to Kevin O'Hanlon and the Rogue Space team for making the show a great success. Congratulations to all of the artists and art lovers who know it is OKAY to enjoy the art of the nude!
