“This is My N*de” -- Celebrating the Individual Approach -- February 2009 is the thirtieth barebrush N*des-of-the-Month calendar. The work of each artist stands distinctly and recognizably from the others, definitively individual. One marvels at the differences which the art of the nude genre continues to inspire. "Recognition for our artists is what we're after," notes barebrush CEO Ilene Skeen.
The curator, Della Clason Sperling, is co-founder of Dulack & Sperling Art LLC, specializing in art advisory, certified appraisals and collections management. Sperling bemoans that February is far too short . "I'm cheated," she jokes, but comments that she could have picked several more days worth, at least. Sperling is no stranger to barebrush, having curated August 2007. She marvels at the "incredible technique" and the impressive increase in the quality and quantity. "Fabulous" is her one-word summary.
The 28 artists selected for February 2009 (with day of month) are: Ruth Butler (2), Roger Cummiskey (3), Joyce DiBona (26), Donelli DiMaria (7), Terry Hinkle* (27), Mollie Kellogg (28), Guenter Knop* (13), Szn Kraft (18), Francien Krieg (12), Lucinda Luvaas (20), John Luce Lockett (25), Jean Marcellino* (1), Joseph Mays* (16), Jacqui Morgan (11), Benjamin Nazareno (19), Angelique Price (14), Emily Rich (10), Chanit Roston (9), Cindy Sibilsky (21), Ilene Skeen (15), Sara Swan (5), Christopher Smith (24), Emily Stedman* (22), William Thierfelder (23), Randy Thurman (17), Haydee Torres (8), Timothy Woodhouse (6), Judy Volkmann (4).
