"In keeping with our policy to select barebrush curators from a variety of art backgrounds, I am very pleased that Alex Katlan has agreed to curate the January 2008 show for barebrush," says CEO, Ilene Skeen. "Alex is unflagging in his enthusiasm for art, his attention to detail and his comittment to preserving both art and art-related history. He comes to barebrush with a lifetime of experience in preserving, appreciating and collecting fine art."
Alex's concentration has been on the artists of the nineteenth century, and when asked what he would like to see from the artists of today for the January 2008 calendar, he expressed sentiments consistent with his classical training and background as a conservator: "I look for line, form and composition in all artwork, as well as inventiveness, color, technical stability and sound painting methods, whether contemporary or historical."
