Art News: 16th Art Calendar Successfully Launched

New York, NY – Dec. 3, 2007 – Barebrush.com announces its sixteenth N*des-of-the-Month Calendar, (December 2007) is released to the public at the website, barebrush.com, dedicated to the art of the nude. The calendar was curated by Tria, the Suchman-Bart-Metheny Gallery, Chelsea, NYC. The 31 artworks (one for each day of the month) were selected from 335 works submitted by 35 artists worldwide.

About the Selection and the Artists:
Tria specializes in contemporary painting, photography and mixed media by established and emerging artists. In addition to artwork on exhibit, the gallery maintains an inventory of select works by its featured artists. Tria's three directors, Carol Suchman, Paige Bart and Latifa Metheny, are committed to presenting artists with compelling bodies of work, and ones whose stories should, in their estimation, be told.

When asked what they were expected from the artists of barebrush, Carol Suchman wrote, "December is a month of sweeping emotion. People feel great happiness and optimism towards the holiday season, but can also feel great sadness and desolation. We are looking for this emotion in the artist's work."

"The energy level at Tria is impressive, as are their shows," says barebrush CEO, Ilene Skeen. " I am pleased that barebrush artists responded to the call for entries with an impressive array of work. This allowed Carol, Paige and Latifa to remain true to their expectations for the December calendar, selecting especially work which expressed the sweeping emotions of the holidays. They were also very interested in unusual presentations and materials.

They chose Randy Thurman's, “Merry Christmas!!!” for December 25th and Suhas Tavkar's “Nude Angels” for Christmas Eve. They chose Kaya's “Dance” for Kwanza on December 29th and two by Lucinda Luvaas, “Flying over City” and “Judith and Holofernes” for a two-day New Year's Eve. To launch the month of December, they decided on “Flight from Earth” by Joost Remeeus.

DiMaria (19), Leon Nicholas Kalas (17, 18), Kaya (29), Lucinda Luvaas (9, 10, 30, 31), Jean Marcellino (2-4), Nudairist (20), Joost Remeeus (1), Ilene Skeen (5-8), Suhas Tavkar (24, 26, 27), Randy Thurman (14-16, 25), Haydee Torres (11-13), and Yukako (21).
