It's only Human

The human form is the gateway to art, according to Art Association of Harrisburg President Carrie Wissler-Thomas.

"Knowing anatomy and knowing how to draw the figure is the basis of all art," Wissler-Thomas said. "The human form is really what mankind bases his world around. It's how we know the correct proportions for furniture and for our homes."

The Association's annual "Figuratively Speaking" exhibition, which opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, presents human bodies in treatments ranging from traditional nudes to modern abstracts.
