Art Opportunity, February 17 Deadline: Barebrush Calendar Contests for March 2012 -- Ndes-of-the-Month, PhotoArt Ndes and Best-of-the-Rest

Curator to select 93 artworks

All visual artists are invited by BAREBRUSH founder and CEO, Ilene Skeen to submit art of all genres for three Barebrush calendar contests: March 2012 N*des-of-the-Month calendar contest, the March 2012 PhotoArt N*des calendar contest, and the March 2012 Best-of-the-Rest calendar contest. Guest curator for the March 2012 calendars will be Della Clason Sperling, founder of Sperling Arts New York, specializing in art appraisals and collections management.

When asked to provide a personal statement for the art selection, Ms. Sperling said:

I have thoroughly enjoyed helping Ilene create this calendar twice before, and I am very pleased to have been invited to participate again, especially because we will be doing the three calendars. Very exciting! I am eager to see new art. I want not only to admire your artistic prowess, but to feel something and learn something.

Ms. Skeen added:

I am delighted to work with Della Sperling once again. Ms. Sterling is usually eager to share her thoughts as she selects the art, and this is very helpful to Barebrush and our Barebrush artists. Please note that circumstances require that the March contest close on February 17th, so please make note to get your submissions in early.

Curator to select 87 artworks

New York, NY — All visual artists are invited by BAREBRUSH founder and CEO, Ilene Skeen to submit art of all genres for three Barebrush calendar contests: February 2012 N*des-of-the-Month calendar contest, the February 2012 PhotoArt N*des calendar contest, and the February 2012 Best-of-the-Rest calendar contest. Guest curator for the February 2012 calendars will be David Reuss, artist, illustrator and teacher, as well as active board member of the Salmagundi Club and the Society of Illustrators in New York City.

When asked to provide a personal statement for the art selection, Mr. Reuss wrote:

Strength is what appeals mostly to me in art. The work can be any medium, style, subject or size. However in the end the work must have power.

Ms. Skeen added:

I am very pleased to welcome David Reuss to our cadre of Barebrush curators. David's statement about looking for power in the art is should prompt our Barebrush artists to submit their strongest works. David is a fine artist, a dramatic illustrator and a good friend at the Salmagundi Club. I'm looking forward to the curation process

February 2012 will be the 66th N*des-of-the Month nude art calendar. With the growth of the number of submissions, we launched our two new calendar series in November to provide more opportunities for artists to win calendar placement and succeed in raising interest in their art and art careers. The photography/digital nude art calendar, called PhotoArt N*des, now separates the art which is primarily photographic into its own series. In addition, in May 2010, we opened a call for six new genres: portraits, people in clothes, animals, landscapes, still lifes, and abstracts. Although we do not yet have enough submissions to make a calendar for each genre, we do have enough to make a calendar of them all. Thus, I am happy to announce a new calendar series, Best-of-the-Rest — art of the six new genres together.

Barebrush is dedicated to providing an online venue to show art at a reasonable price. E-commerce is in development. It is complex and complicated, but I am determined to make it work simply and easily for both artists and art buyers.
